December 30, 2002 - Envision Financial is among Canada's Top 50 Employers
Survey says B.C.'s Envision Financial is among Canada's Top 50 Employers Langley, British Columbia - More than 700 employees at B.C.'s Envision Financial have learned that they are working for one of Canada's top employers. Envision, Canada's third largest credit union with branches throughout BC's Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley and Kitimat, received this honour in Hewitt Associates' annual survey of "The 50 Best Companies to Work for in Canada." The survey was published by The Globe and Mail in the January 2003 issue of its Report on Business Magazine. That ranking placed Envision on a prestigious list alongside some of Canada's largest employers, including Mercedes-Benz, S.C Johnson & Sons Ltd and the Hudson's Bay Company.
The nation-wide study asked Envision staff to evaluate everything from whether their opinion was valued at work to the effectiveness of the organization's leadership, and from the credit union's commitment to career skill development to their understanding of its strategic direction and goals. And the results recognized the award-winning work environment that Envision has created for its employees that contributes to its member-focused and community-minded approach to business. That approach has made the credit union an inviting company for both employees and credit union members-attracting 100,000 members and more than $2 billion in assets under administration for Envision.
"Envision's greatest asset is our people," says Gord Huston, Envision CEO. "Our increased earnings and high member satisfaction ratings are a direct result of their dedication. And our real reward is being able to work together with our staff to help people in communities throughout BC realize their goals."
The ranking is an impressive achievement for Envision, a new company created through a merger just two years ago. In January 2001, Delta Credit Union and FIRST Heritage Savings Credit Union combined forces to create a stronger financial institution that could serve BC's communities with greater effectiveness.
"We're focused on serving our members and we're working, as a team, toward the same goal," says Tim Lounsbury, manager of two of Envision's community branches in Langley, where the company's head office is also located. "We want to see our communities grow. And we're committed to making this happen together."
Employees participate regularly in community events sponsored by Envision and support local and regional non-profit organizations. And while staff work both inside and outside of the office to help British Columbians succeed, Envision equips employees with the tools to achieve their own goals.
At Envision U, the organization's corporate university, staff can continue their education through company courses that are transferable to other colleges and universities, enabling employees to earn credits toward a degree while working at Envision. Other company perks include a wellness centre offering seminars on everything from parenting to stress management, and a flexible benefits program that allows employees to tailor their benefits to suit their individual needs.
"We want our staff to feel completely supported by Envision, to be able to learn, to grow and to serve our members with the absolute best that they have," says Huston. "And our staff have stepped up to the challenge and have come alongside our members to provide them with top financial services and products. This award is a testimony to our staff's commitment to our members which has made Envision a great place for our employees to work and for our members to be served."
